Week 38 - Start of Maternity Leave!

The last bits of vernix caseosa (the white goo keeping baby's skin moist) and lanugo (downy hair) are slowly shedding into your amniotic fluid. Baby's head is about the same circumference as her abdomen, and her head could be covered in an inch or so of hair. (EDIT: unless your baby is a Thornes in which case it will have NO hair - or a really surprised family).

The little watermelon is just chillin out now, getting fatter! I am feeling large everywhere as a result - just a short time until the process of getting SMALLER starts :) I started maternity leave Friday (in theory...still have some things to clean up). It is a weird feeling and Thursday was hard! I did not have time to finish everything I needed to finish...oof. Mostly though I am going to miss seeing all of my friends every day...it will be a strange transition! Hopefuly the weather is nice and I can have a little break. Need to do a few things like a) finish the nursery b) find a pediatrician (I know...slacker) c) write thank you notes d) clean e) get a haircut f) etc etc etc.

Jordan thinks the baby will be early becuase "he looks ready" (although I think he said this just to ease my curiosity rather than him actually thinking that..) but I think he will be late. On-time is not really an option in my mind because that would be way too convenient. No signs yet, but it is much easier to "take care of" him when he is an inside baby so I am not complaining just yet!

These miniature clothes are like torture...I need something to put them on! (if I could just buy one of everything in baby gap I would be a happy camper)

Ahem - example of my weakness at Baby Gap...a rash guard to go swimming in WA this June...totally necessary haha. It is pretty darn cute in the 3-6 month size...:) Oh and some polo shirts Jordan thought would be cute to match daddy, some sweat pants (oh so practical for spring/summer in San Diego...they were so soft though!), and newborn mittens. There was a great sale and we had a gift card (thanks Anna)!
