1 week old

Noah is 1 week old today (edit...when I wrote this post on Saturday he was)! We have had a fun week getting to know him and getting used to our new lack of schedule.

Sleeping is not the best, but we started baby boot camp today :) We are using the book On Becoming Babywise which was recommended to us by my boss and his wife. The point is to have him nurse/eat until he is full, have some awake time after, and then nap. The time period should be 3 hours start to finish (max) right now. This will teach him to not have to fall asleep ON us, which is what was happening, and to fall asleep on his own and sleep in a crib/cradle. We are on nap 3 so far today and all is well!

It is hard to not have him fall asleep on us because he is so cuddly and cute when he does it! It will help during the night though because unfortunately he sleeps much better during the day then at night. Last night we also introduced a pacifier. We were told not to because it can cause latch confusion, but apparently he just really really likes to suck to soothe himself. For the last week I have been a human pacifier so it is nice to have him be able to calm himself and go to sleep. That is the report as of about 8 hours into the method...we will see how it goes over the next week!

My breast pump comes Wednesday which will help out SO much. Jordan is dying to be able to help feed him (sweet, huh?) and it will be nice to be able to do shifts at least during the night - if my body allows it. I am getting used to the nursing...It is just tough for the first few weeks but getting better. My friend got me these gel pads and let me tell you...heaven!

It is fun to finally use all of our baby stuff. We took him for a walk in the BoB yesterday which was fun (although I need to wait to go on more long walks...needed to take some of my stronger medicine last night...guess I still have some healing to do!). We took him to the pediatrician on Wednesday and to Target for his first outing. etc. The swing Auntie Ingrid sent has been amazing so far...one way to not have to hold him! I have also used my "moby" wrap that Jordan's cousin's wife made for me and he LOVED it. He snuggled right in and was totally happy - and I got to play around on my computer hands free! More adventures to come!

He is absolutely amazing so far and we are pretty sure we have created the cutest baby ever - just like all parents thing. I love how when he stretches his neck up he gets all wrinkled like an old man forehead but haven't been able to capture it in a photo yet. We are also constantly on poop/pee watch. Apparently he is using everything he takes in because he is only peeing (we looked it up online...its normal). It is fun to dress him up, piss him off by changing his diaper, watch him wriggle around, etc.

Blogger isn't letting me upload pictures right now so here is a link to all of the pictures we have taken recently. Enjoy!
