Week 19 - Mango

Baby's now the size of a mango!
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Well, we had an exciting week! I went to bed tired and early Monday night, and woke up with a bump. Pictures are still deceiving but it is definitely noticeable in person! Very exciting changes.

Also...we had our 'big' ultrasound. It was so cool to see actual arms, legs, footprints, everything. Jordan got to see a lot more than me since I couldn't see the screen, but it was still pretty cool. Last ultrasound was just a jelly bean, so it was really neat to see a real human shape. And...the big news is that IT'S A BOY! We got plenty of photos proving this from our appointment haha. (I need to get the photos in a different format so I can post them...)

This weekend Jordan's parents are visiting so we have gotten to hang out, go up to Julian for Apple Pie, do a little crib shopping, and relax for the weekend. It was fun to be able to share the news with them as they got off of the plane. Can't wait to go visit for almost two weeks at Christmas! Here is what Julie and I picked out today...

Everything has been pretty busy around here, but I am having fun planning the nursery...even though I don't have an actual room to put the things in. Fun to finally be able to pick colors and clothes and cribs! We are going to start registering next weekend since we will be out of town so much with business travel and holidays coming up.
