15 Months!

We have a toddler. 100%. It is so.much.fun!

We have been going through another bout of ear infections...had 4 in 6 months...which gets you a ticket to see the E.N.T. I still need to call and schedule it but hopefully they will just give us some guidance and we won't have to go the ear tubes route. Can't stand the think of knocking him out completely to get them in! Ugh.

Other than that we are having a fun summer so far even though we are as busy as ever. This summer we are loving the beach and hanging out in our back yard. The water table and slide have been getting lots of use, and the t-ball set is in high demand among his cousins. So much fun!

We don't have our 15 month checkup until August 1st (hard to schedule with the doctor I wanted!) but I he has been going so often for his ear infections we know he is just under 21 lbs. He was eating really really well, then got sick and stopped and dropped down to 20 lbs (6th %) but then got a little better and at this last appointment was back up to 7th % oy. He is just a skinny mini. :)

He is currently working on his motor skills instead of his verbal skills, but is just coming around to adding more words so we are getting there :) He walks everywhere now - no crawling at all - even on the grass or uneven surfaces. He is still too slow to walk too much in public unless we are fine with wandering and not many people are around...but we go like negative 1 mile an hour because he is exploring! Needless to say, he gets picked up or is in the stroller mostly. He is starting to get faster and faster and will be running in no time I am sure.

He LOVES his cats still. And "his" cat (stuffed) which he carries around and says "kah kah kah" and then cuddles with it or pats it. We took his cat to the doctor, to the vet, etc. It is a fun toy.

His words are:
Mama - Mama
Dada - Dada or Dad
Grandpa - Ba-paw
Cat - Kagh
Dog - Dah, or Kagh
Bottle - Bah, or Kagh
Head - Hehh, or Kagh
Ball - Baao, or Kagh (sensing a theme?)
Bye - Bah (with a wave). This means HE wants to go somewhere :)
Who's That - hooda
Hi Dad! - Hi dad!

He is learning how to throw a ball and will bring the ball back to put on the tee. He also LOVES to sit down and read books. There is a superhero touch and feel one with some fabrics that he will sit there and read over and over (well...like 10 minutes of sitting there on his own quietly - I will take it).

He is VERY attached to me. We have complete meltdowns 4 mornings a week as soon as I start getting dressed in my work clothes. Somewhat heartbreaking...since he doesn't do it Fri-Sun when I am not leaving. Most times I have to be nearby or he is clinging to me, my legs, or in my arms. Endearing, but I am sure you can guess the house is a giant mess because of it :) He used to be really good at independent play and he still mostly is...as long as I am in the same room. We will get there, I think he is just starting to be more aware of the world around him. He is more cautious on slides, more aware of people around him, more aware of the fact that I am or am not in the room, etc.

He still only had 2 teeth until the last week when he has gotten/is working on 3 top teeth to go along with them. Regardless of the tooth situation he will eat pretty much anything that is mashable with gums or bite-able with the teeth he does have. We just have to have lots of food options since each one lasts about 5 bites until he wants the next. Typical dinner is a part of a sandwich thin with hummus and cheese, peas, a jar or packet of food, maybe a cereal bar or some strawberries (and/or some of whatever we are eating). He doesn't eat large quantities, but I guess that is expected for someone who is in the 7th percentile :)

We are down to morning bottle only. He drinks his milk in sippy cups for his two daytime "bottles" (still 8 oz each) and then drinks an ounce or two at night. We had tried the sippy thing a few months ago and it was violently chucked on the floor with a scream (dramatic much?). Mrs. Lori - Noah's daycare provider - tried again this week since the "babies" (1 and 2 months younger than him) are off bottles and he was completely ok with it. That acceptance, of course, didn't transfer to us..but that is to be expected. We are working on it.

He is toying with the idea of going down to one nap a day. Some days he pushes it and takes one and some days he still takes two. Either one is fine, it is nice to have two 2-hour breaks to do things like clean (ahem. or blog instead of clean), but it would be easier to do things on the weekend if he took only one. I think by the time we are in Europe in October he will be down to one.

Ok that was really really long. Guess that is the last 3 months in a large nutshell!
