Week 12 - Plum

Baby's now the size of a plum!
As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of her systems are fully formed.

I have eaten probably 8-9 plums this week without even knowing this week would be "plum"! They are tasty! And our CSA gave us like 25 of them and the peaches aren't ripe...:-)

Well, according to Wii Fit, I have gained 0.4 pounds in the last 3 weeks. Not bad! I am absolutely amazed based on the way we have been eating (edit...I wrote this Thursday morning...so who knows what the last two days have done to me!). I have been eating out a lot and in general eating everything in sight. Time to move back to the normal meals both health and budget-wise. You aren't supposed to gain much weight in the first trimester anyway (about 2-3 pounds total) so I am feeling on track at around 3 pounds.

There are differing opinions on when the first trimester ends...12 weeks versus 13 weeks 3 days. I think it is way more fun to do 12 weeks, plus 13.3 is not a good feeling number to me. maybe it if was just 13 weeks but the 3 days thing throws me off. Either way it is crazy to me that this week-ish I will be in the second trimester! It is flying by so quickly. I can't wait to hopefully get out of the night-sickness and tiredness which are already starting to get a little better. Woo Hoo! Oh and from here on out I should be gaining about a pound a week. Next step, LOOKING pregnant instead of like I ate some extra cupcakes!!
