Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.
I think graduating from a wrinkled prune to a lime is pretty exciting...much better visual! I have gotten a few batches of clothes from co-workers so that is fun to try some maternity clothes. The pants are super comfortable...I know I won't say this later, but why doesn't everyone wear elastic waist pants? Some of them are for way later on scared me a bit so I will have to see how I feel about them when I get there. I did go through my closet and set aside some of my clothes to put away for the next year but at least I can keep wearing most of my shirts for another few months.
Our next appointment is September 25th. We don't get to see the baby (so Jordan probably won't come with me) but I am going to ask to schedule my Nuchal Translucency Screening. They measure the neck thickness and do blood tests to check for syndromes like downs. I found out insurance covers it with just my $40 copay AND they do an ultrasound. Since it is more recommended for 35 and older pregnant people it is not entirely necessary but would be good to know. Who am I kidding...I am doing it becuase it involves an ultrasound and my next one is at 20 weeks if I don't. :-) At least I am honest! My appointment is at 13 weeks and the NT scan has to occur between 11 and 14 so we will see if I can get it scheduled that fast (needs doctor's approval).
My prenatal vitamins make me puke. At least that is the excuse I am using the last few days. I get sick at night and haven't been taking them...it may be a mental thing though. I tried to swallow them one night and one got stuck and was no good so every time I think of them I gag a little. I may have to find a different option... Still no real food aversions or cravings, just eating away. Salad is not my first choice right now...but neither is ice cream so I guess it balances out. 'Nilla Wafers however...Jordan picked some up and mmm those hit the spot!
