Week 9 - Green Olive

Baby's now the size of a green olive!
Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

Excuse the "straight out of bed" look. I actually have only gained 2 lbs..but feel so much bigger!

Well we had a great week! Work is really busy...I can't wait until September 30th when the madness slows down. But in other news, the word is out! Almost everyone knows that we see frequently and we are going to tell a few more people this weekend.

We got to go to our first appointment yesterday. We got to see the little "blob" which has a heartbeat of 167 beats per minute! It was so cool to see the little fluttering of the heart and hear the thud thud from the machine. Jordan has been making heartbeat noises since then, I think he is excited :) I had to get a bunch of tests done so we will see how those come out, but so far so good and we are measuring correctly. He measured the baby at 8 weeks 5 days instead of 9 weeks but decided to keep it at 9 weeks. Our official due date (which he said will not change from here on out) is April 2nd! We don't get to see the baby again until the big ultrasound around 20 weeks in November but do have two appointments between now and then. Wonder what they will do if they aren't doing an ultrasound? We still have to decide on the testing options (down syndrome, etc) but I think we can read over the options and tell them at my 13 week appt.

Shows the blob/baby. Head is on the left according to the doctor.

We also booked our travel for the holidays! We are going home (Redmond) Tuesday night through Sunday morning for Thanksgiving. Poor Jordan will be tired with conferences the week before and week after the holiday. But, we are going to Ridgefield for about 11 days from Christmas Eve to January 3rd! We figured we wouldn't really be able to go out for New Years in San Diego and I have heard for so many years about special wonton's that Jordan's dad only makes on New Years. It is finally my turn to try them! We are definitely excited for all of our trips.

Next weekend for Labor Day Weekend Jordan is going on a "guys trip" to Lake Mead. We looove going to Temple Bar with the Davidson's so he will have fun. I am going out for Ashley's bachelorette party and then up to Orange County for her shower, woo hoo! Can't wait to put up pictures of both!

That is about it for this week, next week will probably consist of lots of hours at the office so we can play all weekend.
